To all my friends,
As many of you may know or may not know, 2011 marks my good friend, Alex Nester’s 10th year of being diagnosed cancer-free– of being a “survivor”. She has been trying to wrap her brain around what that means. More importantly, why did she survive? She would like to think that she was kept here for a purpose, and the only purpose she finds is to make music. But not just any music… music that conveys messages of hope, positivity, love, faith, healing… everything that was offered to her at her darkest hour. She wants to give all that back. For her 10 year anniversary, she wants to use the gifts God has given her to do something positive and impactful. I’m telling you today to let you know of a charity event that she is putting on to give back. On Saturday, June 18th, 2011, the world famous Troubadour will kindly open its doors for Alex’s event, “#BurnItDown… To Rise Above It!”. It’s a special benefit concert to raise funds for The American Cancer Society & The Marcelle Erian Foundation (a non-profit organization set up by Alex’s oncology office to help the un- and under-insured pay for their cancer treatments and medications). It’s because of organizations such as these that Alex has survived and that we are seeing more and more survivors every year. PLUS, Alex will be releasing and giving away her 2nd album, “BURN IT DOWN”, to all in attendance as a gift for their generosity.
And this is where you come in… Alex has never been good at this, so I’ll just come out with it… I need your help… in ANY capacity. If any of you know people, vendors, sponsors, organizations that would possibly be interested in helping or donating items for auction, talent, funds, ANYTHING for an event like this, please pass this message along or give them my information. If you feel moved to help in any way, I welcome it with open arms. If you know anyone affiliated with the music industry that would like to listen to some good new music, by all means, send them my way! And if you’d just like to show up, I’d love that just as well.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support you’ve shown Alex over the past 10 years and longer. She couldn’t have gotten to this place in her life without your help. She couldn’t have been a true survivor without your friendships. I hope and pray that this event makes a difference, and with your help, I know we all can.
Peace & Love Always,
Brenda
