“Butterfly” by Lizzie Sider

It was almost a year ago I met Lizzie Sider and her parents at CRS 2012 in Nashville, TN.  She is a gracious, mature beyond her years, pleasant 14 years young, lady. The song “Butterfly” was written by Lizzie along with Jamie O’Neal, Jimmy Murphy and Lisa Drew and tells of her journey the past few years. Sider says songwriting has served as her escape from being teased and humiliated in elementary school.

Sider has a “huge” voice and her performance on this single shows not only her tremendous writing abilities but her strong command of the vocal side of her art. “Look at me now, look at me now / finally coming out and I’m wantin’ to fIy / gonna spread my wings, bright and colorful things / let them take me up and touch the sky / they thought they knew me plain and shy / but all along I was a butterfly.”  Although “Butterfly” was released a few months ago, I felt very strongly that the country music world should hear it again.

Lizzie is someone to be watched very closely. She is currently working on a full-length album to be released in 2013.  Watch for an update here. For more information please visit Lizzie’s Website or her social media sites listed.
