Lizzie Sider

Lizzie Sider is making her way onto the music scene at the young age of fourteen. We came to know Lizzie thanks to our good friend Tony Taylor at Dream West Magazine. Lizzie hails from South Florida where she is currently in high school. Lizzie met up with music and theater in Jackson, Wyoming where she spends her summers in the beauty of wide open spaces and in the company of the talent associated with the Jackson Hole Playhouse.

Lizzie notes the influences of Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum. She has opened for Jamie O’Neal and Aaron Tippin. She has also been the featured performer at the Ocala, Florida and Inverness, Florida Rodeos. She’s been featured many times on the Nashville scene and she performed in the Grand Ballroom at The Waldorf Astoria Hotel at Couture Fashion Week in New York. In July 2012, she released her album “Butterfly” on Blue Steel Records and she’s currently working on an album set for release in 2013.

Hi Lizzie. Happy to have you with us on the HorizonVU Music Blog! Lizzie, tell us little about your background. We’d like to know more about your family, your exposure to the entertainment world, and how you got involved in music.

LS: I have two older sisters, and I have two amazing parents who are so supportive; they have always encouraged me to never stop believing in myself, and they are my best friends. We have a really close bond. I also have two small dogs and they make my family complete!

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved entertainment and music and being on stage. Every summer, since I was 2 months old, my parents and I have been going to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It’s in the middle of nowhere, small town America, and it means so much to me. There is a local theater out there called the Jackson Hole Playhouse, and when I was 6 years old, I was in my first ever Children’s Theater production at the Playhouse. It was a blast!! I have grown up at the Playhouse, and it is a huge part of my life. I started playing the piano when I was 6 years old as well.

I’m sure our readers, particularly, young followers with eyes on the performing arts would like to know about ‘Lizzie the person.’ What sorts of things do you like?

LS: I love to spend time with my parents, hang out with my friends, go to the movies, chill out and be goofy. I also enjoy playing sports, like tennis, golf, and basketball- we have a basketball hoop in the driveway, so my dad and I often play 1 on 1!

When did you become interested in music?

LS: I think ever since I knew what music and performing was, I have been in love with it. When I was 3 or 4, I would put on a show for my stuffed animals, and I’d also stand on the coffee table in the family room, with “Grease” (the movie) playing in the background, and sing along with Sandy in “Summer Nights”… in a poodle skirt. And when I did my first production at the Jackson Hole Playhouse, I just fell in love with everything – the theater, production, performing… And from that moment on I knew that that
was what I wanted to do.

Tell us about your music training and how has your involvement in music developed?

LS: I had my very first vocal lesson was at age 9, my first piano lesson at age 6, and I picked up the guitar for the first time at the age of 12. Since
then I’ve continued to work on vocals, acting, dancing, and playing instruments.

What type of music do you like and where you get your inspiration from? What is the Lizzie style of music?

LS: I like all kinds of music, and I draw inspiration from so many different artists- Both older generation artists like Patsy Cline and newer generation artists like Carrie Underwood. The Lizzie style of music is fresh, positive, wholesome, catchy, and a fun mix of country and pop HVUM In 2012, you released “Butterfly”. We’d like to take a few minutes out for our readers to check out the video. Lizzie Sider and “Butterfly”.

Fantastic! What are your goals for this year?

LS: My goals for this year are to keep working on my skills, including vocals, piano, guitar, songwriting, performing, dancing, and acting. Also, to continue to network and meet people in the industry, keep building my fan base, and most importantly, continue to give back by helping and inspiring
others through my music and supporting charitable causes.

What do you think the future holds for you? Where do you see yourself going?

LS: One of the many things I have learned is that I don’t know what my future holds, and for me that’s the most exciting and amazing part of this
journey! I am very driven to perform on the world’s greatest stages with the world’s greatest performers.

One last question, always my favorite part of the interview and always a favorite part of the interview. Do you have any superheros in your life? Who and tell us a little bit about why.

LS: My mom and dad are my superheroes. My mom has always been there for me,tirelessly taken care of me, nurturing and helping me through anything and everything. My dad inspires me because of his exemplary leadership and endless energy, and instilling in me the confidence to know who I am, and to never loose sight of that.

That’s really great! Lizzie, thanks so much for taking time to talk to us. We know that you’re well along on the path to success and we wish you all the best going forward. We hope you’ll keep us updated and that you’ll come back and visit again.
